REMEMBER GOD’S KINDNESS DAILY

Psalm 103:1-12

Psalm 103:1-12 >> A psalm of David. 1 Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. 2 Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. 3 He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. 4 He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies.

5 He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagles! 6 The Lord gives righteousness and justice to all who are treated unfairly. 7 He revealed his character to Moses and his deeds to the people of Israel. 8 The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. 9 He will not constantly accuse us, nor remain angry forever. 10 He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve. 11 For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. 12 He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.

1. Why do I have to keep on remembering God’s goodness, faithfulness and teaching every day? I need to keep remembering God’s goodness, faithfulness and teaching every day because sometimes the things of this world can be so distracting. Remembering God’s awesomeness in the past will remind us to trust in Him for the future, and will also cause us to love Him more.

2. I will spend the time today to meditate and keep record on God’s goodness that happen in my life all this time and to give thanks! I give thanks to God for a loving and supportive family, group of friends and boyfriend. Although there have been conflicts, God has always been with me and He used those times to process me and all of us to practice and behave more like Christ in thought, deed and character. He also heals me and is always with me. God is faithful.

Don’t Desire the Pleasure of Sins Past

Numbers 14:1-3, 11, 20-23

Numbers 14:1-3, 11 >>
The People Rebel

1 That night all the people of the community raised their voices and wept aloud. 2 All the Israelites grumbled against Moses and Aaron, and the whole assembly said to them, “If only we had died in Egypt! Or in this desert! 3 Why is the LORD bringing us to this land only to let us fall by the sword? Our wives and children will be taken as plunder. Wouldn’t it be better for us to go back to Egypt?”

11 The LORD said to Moses, “How long will these people treat me with contempt? How long will they refuse to believe in me, in spite of all the miraculous signs I have performed among them?

Numbers 14:20-23 >>

20 The LORD replied, “I have forgiven them, as you asked. 21 Nevertheless, as surely as I live and as surely as the glory of the LORD fills the whole earth, 22 not one of the men who saw my glory and the miraculous signs I performed in Egypt and in the desert but who disobeyed me and tested me ten times- 23 not one of them will ever see the land I promised on oath to their forefathers. No one who has treated me with contempt will ever see it.

1. Pay attention to what the Israelites said when they grumbled. [verses 1-3]. Take time to think about what you say when you’re in an uncomfortable situation [hungry, angry, tired, offended, disappointed etc.].
2. Though the Israelites witnessed God’s miracles, they still grumbled. They complained and were unsatisfied so that they were filled with contempt because they lost site of God’s goodness and became a little selfish and self-centered, demanding attention to their more immediate desires. I think this reminds me of whiny children who do not know any better or who are bratty. Personally I’ve done this too. Do or say something to serve my needs first and foremost, although it’s not the right or best or most beneficial thing for me to do in the longrun for everyone, myself and certainly not for pleasing God. Everytime I sin, really, this happens. But praise God the Holy Spirit reminds us and intervenes in our lives. Thank You! What would happen if this is left without any intervention [verses 21-23], God may forgive us if we repent but we may be left with sad consequences which may have been avoided.

1 Samuel 22:1-2

1 David left Gath and escaped to the cave of Adullam. When his brothers and his father’s household heard about it, they went down to him there. 2 All those who were in distress or in debt or discontented gathered around him, and he became their leader. About four hundred men were with him.

Psalm 57

For the director of music. To the tune of “Do Not Destroy.” Of David. A miktam . When he had fled from Saul into the cave. [a]
1 Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me,
for in you my soul takes refuge.
I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings
until the disaster has passed.

2 I cry out to God Most High,
to God, who fulfills {his purpose} for me.

3 He sends from heaven and saves me,
rebuking those who hotly pursue me;
Selah
God sends his love and his faithfulness.

4 I am in the midst of lions;
I lie among ravenous beasts—
men whose teeth are spears and arrows,
whose tongues are sharp swords.

5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
let your glory be over all the earth.

6 They spread a net for my feet—
I was bowed down in distress.
They dug a pit in my path—
but they have fallen into it themselves.
Selah

7 My heart is steadfast, O God,
my heart is steadfast;
I will sing and make music.

8 Awake, my soul!
Awake, harp and lyre!
I will awaken the dawn.

9 I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations;
I will sing of you among the peoples.

10 For great is your love, reaching to the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the skies.

11 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
let your glory be over all the earth.

1. In 1 Samuel 22:1-2, David is facing a situation where he’s surrounded by people whose hearts have been heart, have been mistreated, misunderstood or slandered. I have faced this situation when I visit certain “mission churches” whose congregation has faced many trials and suffer seemingly more than the average person given their financial, legal (etc.) circumstances.
2. When David experienced suffering, fruits of the Spirit were evident, such as peace, patience, faithfulness, gentleness, and even love and joy in the Lord!
He gave thanks despite the adversities in life. I want to be the same way. Lord, please help me to give thanks at all times. I want to sing of Your great love and mercy always! In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN.
